Call to WorshipGod calls us into his presence to worship him.  We gather together to hear him speak to us through his word.

Instrumental: Grace Alone

ConfessionWe confess our sin, our need for a savior, and our faith in Christ.

Father, I confess that often times I try to be independent from you. In my pride and arrogance I take credit for the good things you have provided. Father, I acknowledge my need for you. I need you, for without you I would not have breath. I need your Son, for without him I would be crushed under the weight of your wrath. I need your Spirit, for without him I could not understand your word. Father, I pray that you would remind me daily that I need you! Amen.

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. -Philippians 2:5-11

Assurance of ForgivenessGod reminds us of his gracious mercy in Christ’s atoning sacrifice.

Just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. -Galatians 3:6-9

BenedictionGod sends us into the world, sanctified by his word.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:18-20

Heidelberg Catechism
1. Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?
A. That I am not my own,1
but belong with body and soul,
Both in life and in death,2
to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ.3He has fully paid for all my sins
     with his precious blood,4
     and has set me free
from all the power of the devil.5

He also preserves me me in such a way6
Without the will of my heavenly Father
not a hair can fall from my head;7
Indeed, all things must work together
     for my salvation.8

Therefore, by his Holy Spirit,
     he also assures me
     of eternal life9
and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready
from now on to live for him.10
