Call to Worship – God calls us into his presence to worship him. We gather together to hear him speak to us through his word.
Father, you tell us that Your word is a lamp for our feet and a light unto our path. Your word is life and truth and yet this world we live in is full of deception and noisy distractions. Father, may you give us ears that long to hear your Word above all else, so that we will walk in the light, and glorify your name. Amen.

Confession – We confess our sin, our need for a savior, and our faith in Christ.
Your testimonies are wonderful; therefore my soul keeps them. The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. I open my mouth and pant, because I long for your commandments. -Psalm 119:129-131

Assurance of Forgiveness – God reminds us of his gracious mercy in Christ’s atoning sacrifice.
But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. -Titus 3:4-6

60. Q. |
How are you righteous before God? |
A. |
Only by true faith in Jesus Christ.1 Although my conscience accuses me that I have grievously sinned against all God’s commandments, have never kept any of them,2 and am still inclined to all evil,3 yet God, without any merit of my own,4 out of mere grace,5 imputes to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ.6 He grants these to me as if I had never had nor committed any sin, and as if I myself had accomplished all the obedience which Christ has rendered for me,7 if only I accept this gift with a believing heart.8 |
